M. Kamenstein, Inc. was founded in Brooklyn, New York by Meyer Kamenstein in 1893. They were the creators of the animated steam powered tea kettle.
The animated tea kettle combined novelty with utilitarian value by creating a rotatable outer housing that rotated by steam power.
This animation wasn’t just for amusement value. This also created an advantage to alert persons that were hearing challenged by creating a visual indication that their water was boiling.
But the amusement of the animated tea kettle is embraced by all! Watch!!

I own this tea pot, but have questions about it that I cannot find answers anywhere. Mine has a metal pipe that connects to a plastic tube and runs through the spout. What is it for? Can I remove it so the carousel will work? What is it for?
