#Railfans – Tin Toy Cable Car
Boonton had trolleys! They were owned by Morris County Traction Company. They ran ever 30 minutes from 5:30am until midnight along the Boulevard. The route was from where Route 46 and Main Street intersects in Denville to the Boonton Train Station.
Arthur “Lloyd” Charlton* of the Boonton Historical Society, remembers the steam shovels removing the trolley tracks when he was about 6 years old. He said “…the tracks went up the Boulevard path, then crossed the street at the pillars and went up the right side of West Main St. Then, at some point, the tracks moved into the center of the road and went down the center into Boonton.”
*Living legend, Arthur “Lloyd” Charlton #WW2 veteran was honored with the Distinguished Service Medal by the #MorrisCty Board of Commissioners on #VeteransDay , 2022. Thank you for your service!
