Hand Painted Zebra @ Time’s Tin Cup !

Zebras, African equines, are easily recognised by their bold black-and-white striping patterns. There are the Grevy’s Zebra, Plains Zebra and Mountain Zebra.

Zebras are unpredictable by nature and are not good candidates for domestication. But their dazzling stripes not only make them the most recognized mammal; but, the most sought after by exotic animal collectors.

Throughout history royals and aristocrats have forced captivity on the zebras as a status symbol.

Lord Walter Rothschild trained some zebras to draw carriages for Buckingham Palace.

The German cavalry used zebra as transport animals in late 1800s thru early 1900s.

Today, people still try to find a way to domesticate zebra by crossbreeding them.

Captive zebras have been bred with horses and donkeys; these are known as zebroids. Human intervention is often needed to force these pairings that do not exist in the wild.
