Snake charming is the practice of apparently hypnotizing a snake. It is most common in India; but also practiced in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
The most popular species used for snake charming are cobras and vipers.
In Hinduism, snakes regarded as sacred. The animals are protectors to the Nagas. Indians thus considered snake charmers to be holy men who are influenced by the gods.
