Many believe that is a quote from the Bible. It is not. It is actually a Chinese Proverb that teaches knowledge is the best charity. The quote is from a Chinese philosopher dating back to 4th century BC, Lao Tzu. Lao Tzu was known as “the Old Master” and is credited with teachings of honor. He is also credited with being the founder of Taoism.
