On July 17, 1955, Disneyland in Anaheim, California was officially opened. This was a revolutionary $17 million theme park.
Walt Disney conceived the idea for Disneyland while sitting on a bench watching his daughters ride a carousel at Griffith park. He had noticed that there were no activities for parents to enjoy alongside their children. He wanted a place were families could go and enjoy activities together.
From a simple park bench observation to a 160 acre phenomenon, Disneyland’s opening on July 17, 1955, completely changed the blueprint of family entertainment.
