Ancient hand blown signed glass artifact

Ancient Glass Blown Piece Available at Time’s Tin Cup’s Etsy Shop

This piece was created by the art of glass blowing.

Glass is crafted by gathering molten glass at the end of a hollow pipe. Air is then blown through that pipe and the pliable glass blooms into a bubble form. The bubble is then shaped by swinging, rolling, or blowing some more. Glass work has been traced back to prehistoric times of 4000 BC; but, back then the technique used was called obsidian. The glass material was worked using molten lava.

Glass blowing is still a practiced art today. Matter of fact, Morris County has it’s own school, Morris County School of Glass, with courses credited by County College of Morris.
