Statue of Liberty Trinket Storage Box

How many thought there was only one Statue of Liberty? There are actually many.

The original Statue of Liberty resides in New York Harbor. She arrived in 1885 to what use to be known as, Bedloe’s Island. Bedloe’s Island was formerly used by the Lenape Indians to harvest oysters. The Lenapes were forced off the island by Dutch Settlers. Then the island became a military outpost. In 1886, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated. In 1956, the island was designated Liberty Island by Presidential Proclamation of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
