A Shot of Brilliance! Vintage set of 6 inventors and innovators rock glasses that were produced in 1974. The honored people are Thomas Edison, Charles Brush, Benjamin Lamme, Edward Weston, George Westinghouse and William Stanley. Each glass measures approximately 3 1/2 inches tall.
Thomas Edison; a native of New Jersey, was also known as the “Wizard of Menlo Park”. Had 1,093 patents for all of his innovations! He is best known for the inventions of the incandescent light bulb, the phonograph, the dictaphone, early motion picture cameras, the alkaline storage battery, the car battery that ran the Model T automobile, and more!
Charles Brush; a native of Ohio, is known for his work with magneto-electric apparatus. His work created as well as improved upon electrical generators and arc lighting. This work is what gives the utility companies the ability to power cities!
Benjamin Lamme; another native of Ohio, is known for the induction motor he created based on the work from Nikola Tesla’s patents. Lamme designed the generators that are run by Niagara Falls and the power plant in the Manhattan Elevated Railway in New York City.
Edward Weston; Montclair, New Jersey, was the innovator of 334 filed patents; but most known for his work with permanent magnets, voltage calibrations and meters. Weston built the ammeter (speedometer) that was used for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
George Westinghouse; of Pennsylvania, created the railway air brake. He was also a pioneer in the electrical industry. Westinghouse worked with Benjamin Lamme in the development of Nikola Tesla technology with power distribution. Westinghouse was also a direct competitor of Thomas Edison DC Based Stations (battery vs alternating current power stations).
William Stanley; of London, U.K. Stanley was an engineer who designed mathematical instruments, surveying instruments and telescopes.
