The Monkees were a 1966 American popular rock band with a television series. Members were musicians and actors; Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith , Peter Tork , and Davy Jones .

The Monkees successful concept was conceived by producers Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider to create comedic situations in a television series to present their music in video format. These music videos from their television series made their band a success. Matter of fact, the comedic series made their music so successful that in 1967 The Monkees sold more albums than The Beatles and the Rolling Stones combined! The television series ran from 1966 to 1968.
