Female Gondolier Doll

The very first female gondolier in Venice, breaking a 900 year of a all male trade tradition, was Giorgia Boscola.

Gondoliers are known for telling fancy tales and legends to their passengers. One of these tales is about the gondolier being the warrior of the lagoons of Venice.

According to the gondoliers, in the depths of the Venetian lagoon lives a terrible sea monster that only fears the gondolier. Whenever a think blanket of fog overtakes Venice, it is said to be that monster.

The presence of gondoliers navigating the lagoon keeps the monster from coming forth. So the gondoliers take to the lagoons to keep the monster at bay.
