Eastman Kodak 2A Hawk-Eye Camera
Pictures were not always taken on cell phones. The invention of the personal camera even has some roots in New Jersey. January 1, 1881, George Eastman and and businessman Henry Strong formed a partnership called the Eastman Dry Plate Company. Late that year, Eastman continued researching photography.
In 1884, the Eastman-Strong partnership had given way to a new firm, Eastman Dry Plate and Film Company.
The company has been called Eastman Kodak Company since 1892, when Eastman Kodak Company of New York was organized. In 1901, the Eastman Kodak Company of New Jersey was formed.
Eastman built his business to make photography available for everyone. The Kodak Camera came pre loaded with film for 100 exposures that could easily be carried and operated. Upon all exposures being used it had to be returned to the Kodak company for the prints to be developed and new film loaded. The camera and prints were then sent back to the photographer.
